Le Roi et l'Oiseau - Cie (1) Promptu

With the tale Le Roi et l’oiseau, peace and love always triumph! Choreographer Émilie Lalande adapts the animated film by Paul Grimault and Jacques Prévert, itself inspired by Andersen's story.

A tyrannical king, accustomed to controlling everything, falls in love with a gentle shepherdess, but she has already given her heart to the courageous chimney sweep. Together, they flee this oppressive kingdom to live their love in freedom.

Aided by a daring bird, they avoid a thousand dangers and escape the king's wrath. In an inventive set illustrating the struggle between oppression and emancipation, a castle or a city magically rises. The costumes are full of details, pleats, and textures.

Thanks to the dance, rhythmic with demi-pointes and entrechats, bodies take flight, to love freely in an enchanting atmosphere.
