Everyone knows Don Quichotte but almost no one has read Don Quichotte"!

This sentence from the show summarises our intention: To stage a play about Don Quichotte that would make spectators want to delve into this novel, while also shedding light on literary creation and the life of Cervantes, and on the importance of the book as an object.

To stage Don Quichotte is to tackle the most published book after the Bible! To stage Don Quichotte is to bring to life the most famous novel character in all of humanity!

But to stage Don Quichotte is also to pay tribute to its author and his incredibly romantic life: Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra! Our creation features the famous hidalgo, this wandering knight and his squire, but the main character is Cervantes; or more precisely, his book!

We therefore immerse the audience in the city of Madrid at the beginning of the 17th century, in the life of this celebrated author and in the tradition, at that time, of reading books aloud, as an essential means of transmitting printed works.

The writing and structure of our play reflect the madness of Don Quichotte and his world populated by enchanters, a "whimsical" journey between reality and fiction.

But our play is also a tribute to Cervantes' literary inventions and his art of surprising readers in the two novels that make up his masterpiece!

Our show is not a historical re-enactment, even if it gives spectators keys to understanding what literature was like in the Golden Age, the life of Cervantes, and the novelistic UFO that was Don Quichotte!

It is an original show, both referenced and resolutely modern, where space and time are deconstructed and whose objective is to entertain all audiences, as was Cervantes' wish with his two books that introduced Don Quichotte.
