About — The venue

IVT - International Visual Theatre is a cultural venue dedicated to deaf culture, co-founded by Jean Grémion and Alfredo Corrado in Paris in 1977. It comprises three main areas: a theatre, a training centre, and a publishing house, all linked by a common mission to transmit and disseminate French Sign Language (LSF) and its culture. The integration of the theatre with LSF education allows for the promotion of different language registers, providing unique working material and pedagogy. Along with Tyst Teater (sv) in Sweden, the National Theatre of the Deaf in the United States, and Teater Manu (no) in Norway, IVT is a leading venue in France for the dissemination and creation of sign language theatre, as well as visual and physical performances.
