Guajiro, peasant, and chic: Raul Paz unites multiple worlds, connecting his Cuban identity to an open Europe, his experience to a youth who follow him with warm affection. A musician of the cities, a musician of the fields, the singer, songwriter, and composer delivers Guajiro Chic, a loving, paradoxical, dancing album. Raúl Paz spent nearly fifteen years in exile before returning to his homeland. He is now back on the French stage with a new album, Guajiro Chic, featuring eleven tracks led by the tres, maracas, and minor keys, all wrapped in the signature “Paz” style. The Cuban singer, songwriter, and composer Raúl Paz has lived with his family since 2009 on a finca, Finca Villaverde, in the Viñales Valley. A cordial and warm man, he plants and organises his family's life autonomously – solar energy, permaculture. He enjoys the learned simplicity of his close neighbours, “impoverished and inspired farm workers, root musicians.” This is how the energetic and romantic Guajiro Chic was born. Raúl Paz refined the lyrics, using double meanings, an art unique to artists in exile as well as to the cunning of peasants.
