Nitai Hershkovits likes to take the road less travelled. Trained in jazz before pursuing his research into classical music, nourished by Sonny Rollins and his years with Avishai Cohen, the Israeli pianist based in New York has developed a very personal way of letting music breathe. His playing blends groove, space, silence, and poetry, allowing melodies time to unfold, transform, and take unexpected paths. With Petros Kampanis on double bass and Jorge Rossy on drums, a former collaborator of Brad Mehldau in his legendary trio, he forms a group where composition and improvisation respond to each other with constant attentiveness. The music moves forward, branches off, and surprises, with that precious feeling that nothing is ever entirely pre-written. To be discovered at the Théâtre de Fontblanche, of course.
