For Halloween, the 38Riv invites you to spend the afternoon on the dark side of jazz. On the programme: the darkest or most mischievous standards by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Eartha Kitt, and Frank Sinatra. Songs where ghosts and witches meet vampires and demons… and where, sometimes, the most frightening thing is the love that never stops haunting us. This 'spooky' and wicked programme has been concocted in the cauldron of Siberian pianist Julia Perminova and Australian singer Melissa Lesnie. As a bonus, Melissa offers us a rare opportunity to hear the theremin: this ghostly instrument, played without being touched, has haunted horror film soundtracks for nearly 100 years. Leave your good resolutions in the cloakroom.
