KEZIAH JONES It's hard to believe that this Nigerian-born artist was discovered in the metro... And yet! A guitar virtuoso, Keziah Jones was spotted in the early 90s while playing in the Paris metro.
Heavily influenced by Prince's funk, he has been touring the world for three decades, regularly releasing albums that serve as eclectic postcards. From studios to festival stages, the Lagos native has constantly refined his unique style.
Born in 1968 in Lagos, Nigeria, after spending some time in the Constantine region of Algeria with his uncle, Keziah was sent by his father to England for his studies. Thus, at the tender age of 8, the young boy was separated from his family to attend a Public School in London.
In the English capital, the Nigerian discovered his passion for music. He taught himself piano at the age of 13 and proved to be gifted in this field. Three years later, he decided to learn another instrument: the guitar.
Little by little, he began to compose his own lyrics and perform them. He created a new musical style, a blend of funk, blues, folk, and soul, which he named BluFunk.
