Overview
Self-taught, Danyl started producing very early on, both for himself and for others. A songwriter, composer, and beatmaker, he is one of the first artists to create tracks live on the Twitch platform. Danyl is French-Algerian and draws on Raï sounds to build his musical universe.
Inspired by his dual culture and the modernity of his era, he releases sounds that he gathers under the name Khedma (meaning 'work' in Arabic). “In France, I’m just another Arab, and back home, I’m a zmigri,” Danyl wonders in the track Mazel.
“Zmig” or “Zmigri,” derived from the French word “émigré,” is the pejorative term Algerians use to refer to French people of Maghrebi origin. By choosing to name his first album this way, the young Parisian decides to transform this stigma into a double richness.
