Overview
Self-taught, Danyl started producing very early on, both for himself and for others. A songwriter, composer, and beatmaker, he is one of the first artists to create tracks live on the Twitch platform. Danyl is French-Algerian and draws on Raï sounds to build his musical universe.
Inspired by his dual culture and the modernity of his era, he releases sounds that he brings together under the name Khedma (work in Arabic). “In France, I’m just another Arab, and back home, I’m a zmigri,” Danyl exclaims in the track Mazel.
“Zmig” or “Zmigri,” derived from the French word “émigré,” is the derogatory term used by Algerians to refer to French people of Maghrebi origin. By choosing to name his first album this way, the young Parisian decides to transform this stigma into a double richness.
