Thanks to recent discoveries of a few rare scores, Contre-temps is a joyful and whimsical musical lecture on the incredible and little-known life of François Courdot, a French artist exiled in the United States. The show is an euphoric dive into the history of operetta and musical comedy in the 20th century, richly illustrated by repertoire tunes as well as excerpts from the singular work of this extraordinary artist. Two benches, a piano and a trio of passionate artists, and we are joyfully embarked on the adventurous life of this versatile composer. Theatre, jazz, operetta, history, musical comedy, romance, biography, travel… there are a thousand reasons to love this musical gem, which takes us on a journey from Mozart to Gershwin, from a Gounod opera to the musical Hair.
