Marius is a young man exhilarated by the sea. He loves his father César, gruff but kind-hearted, and he also loves little Fanny, who sells seashells in front of César's bar on Marseille's Old Port. Since childhood, the desire to travel the world has inflamed him. But he doesn't want to abandon his father, who might die of grief, nor pretty Fanny, who thinks only of him. Until the day the three-masted ship La Malaisie makes a short stopover in Marseille… We are delighted to welcome back Jean-Philippe Daguerre's company to kick off this season, with a play featuring rich, vibrant language and magnificent lines that have become cult classics. The staging here brings out all of Pagnol's tenderness for his colourful characters, highlighting their full humanity.
