Le Salon Photo & Vidéo célèbre 200 ans de photographie à Paris du 8 au 11 octobre !

On the occasion of the bicentenary of photography, the Salon de la Photo becomes the Salon Photo & Vidéo and takes over the Grande Halle de la Villette, from 8 to 11 October 2026, with an exceptional cultural programme orchestrated by its artistic director Simon Edwards.

Spanning nearly 1,000 m², the Salon will notably feature the major exhibition "200 ans derrière l’objectif. Appareils photo : 1826-2026" (200 Years Behind the Lens. Cameras: 1826-2026), created in partnership with the Nicéphore Niépce Museum.

Through antique cameras, period prints, and exceptional collector's items, it will retrace two centuries of technical innovations and aesthetic evolutions, from the first photographic processes to the digital revolution.

This deep dive into the history of photography will be extended by an immersive experience around wet collodion, with demonstrations and portraits created in public by artist Marjolaine Vuarnesson, as well as the first presentation of La Malle des bicentenaires (The Bicentennial Trunk), a time capsule designed to preserve thousands of photographs taken in 2026 before its reopening in 2039.

The public will also be able to discover 11 exhibitions dedicated to all forms of photographic expression: "Messolonghi, Terre de Liberté" (Messolonghi, Land of Freedom), Nikos Aliagas' intimate and poetic gaze on the Greek land of his origins; "Hors Champ, les coulisses du cinéma" (Off-Screen, Behind the Scenes of Cinema) by Christophe Brachet, a set photographer who reveals the hidden side of filmmaking; "Hors Cadre" (Out of Frame) by David Delaplace, a photographer and artistic director from the world of rap and urban culture, who blends reality, fiction, and cinematic aesthetics; the Sony World Photography Awards, the Zooms 2026, and the new analogue writings of The Analog Chronicles; committed exhibitions around photojournalism, the place of women photographers, the fight against breast cancer, nature, and the preservation of biodiversity.

Numerous meetings will punctuate these four days, notably with Nikos Aliagas, Alexandre Astier, Arnaud Baumann, Christophe Brachet, Mathieu Forget, Adrien Vautier, Sophie Zénon, and many other photographers, directors, and content creators.
