Accompanied by a musician on stage, Emmanuelle Laborit performs ten chansignes — original or adapted from the hearing repertoire. Chansigne draws on the richness of sign language and deaf culture to inhabit space and retranscribe emotions through face and body. The music serves the deaf rhythm, a rhythm born from gesture, impact, and breath. The theme of revolt permeates the choice of a popular and alternative repertoire. Visual readings and some voice-overs allow the hearing audience to access the richness of the texts. With vibrant and luminous energy, the artists celebrate difference, minority identities, and human singularities.
