While their music evokes bands such as Suicide, The Birthday Party, and Warsaw, it maintains its own identity thanks to its hammered mechanical rhythms, hypnotic synthesizers, abrasive guitars, and minimalist bilingual vocals.

Formed in 2021 during lockdown, Elektrokohle began as a duo with guitarist Mona Manie and keyboardist-vocalist Mr. Cigarette Butt, channelling the claustrophobic atmosphere of that period into their early lo-fi demos.

The arrival of bassist Suzan Flag in 2022 completed the line-up, bringing a depth and saturation characteristic of their evolving sound.

The trio quickly became known for their chaotic and highly intense live performances, embodying the raw and visceral spirit of Berlin's underground and DIY scene.

Their early releases – *Junkie House* and *Vollmond* (2023, Dong Xuan Productions) as well as the 45 rpm single *I Wanna Cry / Abstand* (2024, Dushtu Records & Off Label Records) – established them as a rising force in the European post-punk scene.

After sharing the stage with artists such as Lydia Lunch, She Wants Revenge, New Model Army, Girls in Synthesis, Drahla, and Agent Side Grinder, the trio also toured Scandinavia in 2024 alongside Berlin synth-punk band Cosey Müller.
