The master of the balafon presents his new album, blending African tradition and modernity. Introduced to the balafon, an emblematic instrument of African griots, by his father in childhood, Aly Keïta impresses with the subtlety of his playing and his bubbling creativity. The Ivorian virtuoso creates unique soundscapes where the ancestral rhythms of the Mandinka tradition merge with the jazz pulsations of drummer and percussionist Marcel Van Cleef and the improvisations of bassist Roberto Badoglio. With Balafon Evolution, his first trio album, Aly Keïta explores and renews the sounds of his balafon and reveals the richness of his compositions. On stage, Malian singer Mariam Koné adds a delicate and fluid pop touch with her soft and expressive voice.
