With the exception of a John Cale cover, these two albums were written, performed, and produced by Agnes Obel herself.

Her ambitious 2016 album, Citizen of Glass, introduced ghostly electronic sounds, modulated voices, and a late 1920s monophonic synthesizer called a “Trautonium” into her universe, positioning her globally as a songwriter, artist, and producer.

In 2018, Agnes Obel signed with Deutsche Grammophon. In the same year, Obel released a compilation Late Night Tales, featuring original compositions and poetry.

In 2020, Obel released her fourth studio album, Myopia, which, like her previous album trilogy, was entirely written, recorded, and produced by herself in her home studio in Berlin.
