Overview
Concertos grossos have been at the heart of the Ensemble Baroque de Nice's project since its creation. This 2026/2027 season will therefore begin with a return to its roots, featuring the complete concertos grossos op. 4 by Alessandro Scarlatti. From their publication, these works captured the attention of Charles Burney, who was particularly impressed by the beauty of their harmonies and modulations. Comprising three to five movements, the traditional separation between concertos da chiesa (church) and da camera (chamber) is erased, giving significant prominence to the fugal style, allowing for the deployment of exceptional writing virtuosity for the concerto grosso genre.
