Eglise Protestante Saint-Pierre Le Jeune

The Protestant Church of Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune is a Lutheran place of worship located in Strasbourg, in the French department of Bas-Rhin, Grand Est region.

It is situated on Place Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune in the city's historic centre. It is one of Strasbourg's most remarkable churches from an art history and architectural perspective.

There are two other Saint-Pierre churches in Strasbourg: the Église Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux, which is actually a complex of two churches, one Catholic and one Protestant, and the Catholic Église Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, with its imposing Neo-Romanesque dome, dating from the late 19th century.

The church has been Lutheran since 1524, when Wolfgang Capiton preached the Reformation there. Paul Fagius succeeded him. In 1682, Louis XIV restored the Catholic parish, with the choir then allocated to Catholics and the nave to Protestants. This dual allocation of worship continued until 1893, when the Catholic Église Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune was built by the Germans. It was in the baptistery, to the right at the front, that the Blessed Charles de Foucauld was baptised. This was during the period when the church was used jointly by Catholics and Protestants (simultaneum).

The building has been classified as a historical monument since 1862.
