Musée postal

The Musée Postal (formerly Musée de La Poste) is the corporate museum of Groupe La Poste, dedicated to French postal history and philately. Opened in 1946, it has occupied two sites in Paris. The current museum has been located at 34, boulevard de Vaugirard since 1973. Its collections hold the 'Musée de France' label under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture. The museum closed its doors in 2015 for a complete architectural and museological restructuring. It reopened on 23 November 2019.

The Musée Postal is a place for presenting, preserving, and disseminating postal heritage. It focuses on writing, history, and culture. From the seven-league boots to the heroes of the Aéropostale, and a panorama of 150 years of postage stamps in France, the collections of the Musée Postal tell a story, not only that of a company but also that of everyday France. The museum preserves and exhibits over 1,000 m2 of historical, artistic, philatelic, and scientific heritage, comprising collection pieces as diverse as the first postal route maps, postman uniforms, artist models, postage stamps, popular objects, and a large collection of mail art and postal art.
