Murs à pêches

The 'murs à pêches' (peach walls) are espaliered peach tree cultivations, trellised, created as early as the 17th century in Bagnolet, Seine-Saint-Denis.

The Montreuil peach walls developed until the 19th century, reaching their peak production in 1870 with 600 km of linear walls and supplying 17 million fruits.

These cultivations, unique in their kind along with those of the Chasselas de Thomery grapes near Fontainebleau, which adopt the same principle, allowed for the production of fruit varieties usually reserved for the mild climates of southern France, despite the Parisian region's climate.
