The Palais idéal (also known as the Palais idéal du facteur Cheval) is a monument built in Hauterives (France) by postman Ferdinand Cheval, from 1879 to 1912.
A masterpiece of naive architecture and naive art, it has been classified as a historical monument since 1969.
During a national vote organised in the summer of 2020 by the producers of the television show Le Monument préféré des Français, broadcast on France Télévisions, the Palais idéal was ranked second on a list of fourteen monuments. Its construction was also the subject of a French biographical film directed by Nils Tavernier and released in 2018.
