About — The venue
Le Bon Marché is a French department store, located in a block bordered by rue de Sèvres, rue de Babylone, rue du Bac, and rue Velpeau in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It was called Au Bon Marché for 151 years, until 1989.
The first Au Bon Marché store was founded in 1838, and the current main building was constructed starting in 1869 by Jean-Alexandre Delaplanche. It underwent multiple expansions by the architect Louis-Charles Boileau and then his son Louis-Hippolyte Boileau. The engineer Armand Moisant was responsible for the framework of the first store, with Gustave Eiffel only marginally involved during the final phase of the department store's construction in 1879.
The company was a member of the International Association of Department Stores from 1985 to 2011.
