The Père-Lachaise cemetery is the largest Parisian cemetery within the city limits and one of the most famous in the world. Located in the 20th arrondissement, housing 70,000 graves, many famous people are buried there. It used to welcome over three and a half million visitors each year, making it the most visited cemetery in the world.
While it has become a major tourist attraction in Paris, Père-Lachaise remains an active cemetery where numerous funeral operations and commemorative ceremonies take place every year.
