About — The artist
Philippe Decouflé, born on October 22, 1961, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, is a French contemporary dancer and choreographer. A popular choreographer who rose to fame by staging the opening and closing ceremonies of the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992, he has built an eclectic and inventive dance company, enjoying great public success since the 1990s. Strongly influenced by Alwin Nikolais's work, Decouflé creates "total spectacles," which often include, in addition to the choreographic aspect, significant visual work (costumes, lighting, etc.) as well as the use of video.
