Mogwai

Mogwai is a British post-rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. Over the years, they have become one of the most influential and exposed bands on the post-rock scene, right from their highly acclaimed debut album Mogwai Young Team in 1997. Largely instrumental, the band's tracks are most often based on a bass or guitar line, to which variations on the theme are gradually added. These compositions oscillate between atmospheric moods and sonic violence (their concerts usually end in complete chaos, under a rain of feedback). The band often frequented John Peel in their early days and recorded seven Peel Sessions between 1996 and 2004. Peel recorded a brief introduction for the compilation Government Commissions: BBC Sessions 1996–2003.
