About — The artist
Louis Moutin, born in Paris on December 24, 1961, is a jazz drummer. He started playing piano at the age of 7, but it was at 20 that he chose the drums. At the same time, he earned an engineering degree from Centrale Lyon in 1985 and a master's degree in mathematics. Nevertheless, he decided to live his passion and become a professional jazz musician. In 1998, he co-founded the Moutin Reunion Quartet with his twin brother François Moutin, and in 2013, the Moutin Factory Quintet. He has played with Martial Solal, Jean-Michel Pilc, Christian Escoudé, Pierre de Bethmann, Tigran Hamasyan, Antoine Hervé, Henri Texier...
He was awarded the Django-Reinhardt prize in 2005 with his brother François.
He is the son of Jacqueline Melzassard and Jacques Moutin and the brother of François Moutin.
