About — The artist

Lang Lang (Chinese: 郎朗; pinyin: Láng Lǎng), born on June 14, 1982, in Shenyang (Liaoning), is a Chinese pianist.

In 1995, his victory at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians brought him international recognition. He achieved widespread acclaim in 2001 with his debut concert at Carnegie Hall (New York) at the age of eighteen.

Massively popular worldwide from the 2000s onwards, he has been described by the press as a 'pop star' or 'rock star of classical music'. Based in France, he is scheduled to perform for the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris in 2024.
