Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff, born on 28 September 1987 in Houston, Texas, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, writer, stylist, and producer. Growing up in Texas, she launched her acting career by performing in plays during her childhood. After playing the lead role in the television series Lizzie McGuire in 2001, she became a "teen idol". Later, she starred in several successful films such as: The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), A Cinderella Story (2004), and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005). As her career progressed, she took on more adult roles in shows like Joan of Arcadia, Ghost Whisperer, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Two and a Half Men. In 2009, she also appeared in several episodes of the famous drama series, Gossip Girl. Among others, she appeared in several independent films such as: War, Inc. (2008), Greta (2009), and Bloodworth (2010).

In 2001, she signed a contract with Hollywood Records and, the following year, released her first album Santa Claus Lane. In 2003, her second album, titled Metamorphosis, was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, after selling over 3 million copies. In 2004, her third album, simply titled Hilary Duff, was certified platinum in the United States. Unlike the previous album, which had two hit singles, So Yesterday and Come Clean, this third album only had one hit single, titled Fly. In 2005, she released her first compilation album, titled Most Wanted, which was very successful thanks to the singles Wake Up and Beat of My Heart. In 2007, she released her fourth album, titled Dignity, whose first single With Love reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2008, after the release of her first greatest hits album, Best of Hilary Duff, she terminated her contract with Hollywood Records.

After a seven-year musical hiatus, Hilary Duff finally signed with RCA Records in 2014. Her fifth album Breathe In. Breathe Out. debuted at number five in the United States, becoming her fifth album to reach the top 5.

She has sold over 15 million records since the beginning of her music career in 2002.

Outside of her acting and singing career, she created her own clothing line in 2004, named Stuff by Hilary Duff. She then co-wrote a trilogy of novels with Elise Allen: Elixir (2010), Devoted (2011), and True (2013).
