Coldplay

Coldplay is a British pop rock band from London, England. It was formed in 1996 by singer-songwriter Chris Martin and guitarist Jonny Buckland. Bassist Guy Berryman then joined the band, before drummer Will Champion completed the quartet. Producer Phil Harvey joined their project as manager.

In 1998, the band was established under its definitive name and released its first two EPs. Its members then took the opportunity to sign with the Parlophone label.

With ten studio albums, the latest titled Moon Music released in October 2024, Coldplay is often considered one of the most successful bands of the new millennium, with over 160 million albums sold worldwide and international tours, such as the Music of the Spheres World Tour which began in 2022. Regularly awarded, the band has notably won nine Brit Awards, seven Grammy Awards, six Q Awards, and seven NME Awards. In December 2008, it was also voted the fourth best artist of the 2000s by readers of Rolling Stone magazine.

The band champions the causes of various charities and has been working for fair trade since its beginnings alongside Oxfam International and Amnesty International. This commitment led them to participate in charitable groups such as Band Aid 20 and to play in concerts such as Live 8, Fairplay, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now, Global Citizen Festival, and Teenage Cancer Trust.
