YEARS OF SHAME (coldwave, industrial /FR)

Born between Paris and Rennes, the duo Berne Evol / Brice Delourmel (FTR, Dead. / Giirls) stretches the horizons of cold wave and post-punk towards more industrial, more carnal textures, at the heart of an obsessive amorous chaos. Rhythms that pound relentlessly, approaching a sublime soundtrack of despair, at once hazy, synthetic and dense, and which knows how to envelop the audience with its steel-tasting gothic guitars.

CANAL FROID (darkwave, post-punk /FR)

Canal Froid is a French solo project created in 2024, evolving between post-punk and dark wave. In terms of instrumentation, we have tribal drums, deep basses, guitars that are alternately crystalline or saturated (leaning towards shoegaze), all enveloped in synths with poignant dissonances. The (few) lyrics appear as mantras and most often deal with the difficulty of feeling out of place, of not always being part of the norm, and a certain refusal of conformity. It is clear that with Canal Froid, the music has as much (if not more) to say than the words, ultimately. The meticulous production reminds us that we are in 2025 with a contemporary sound and background. Melancholy and introspection permeate each track, avoiding genre clichés. And one can guess that coldness and tension perfectly summarise the artist's feelings towards the world and human relationships of our time. This is how Canal Froid manages to pay true homage to the 80s cold wave movement without ever copying, sweeping away any warmed-over nostalgia.
