LES TROUBLEMAKERS

A Marseille trio formed in the late 1990s within the orbit of Friche Belle de Mai, Troublemakers bring together Lionel Corsini (DJ Oil), Fred Berthet (DJ Steef), and Arnaud Taillefer (NoLa) around a sound that merges house, downtempo, trip-hop, and cinematic references: soundtrack samples, voices, and atmospheres borrowed from the big screen. Their first album, Doubts & Convictions (2001, Guidance Recordings), immediately laid the groundwork for international recognition. The track « Get Misunderstood  » became a hit on Radio Nova and France Culture, placing the group within the French touch landscape while distinguishing themselves with a more organic and narrative songwriting style. This was followed by Express Way, released on Blue Note / EMI, then a series of image-related projects: soundtracks, musical short films, and the Stereo Pictures vol. 2 collaboration with MK2.

After years dedicated to solo projects and a long hiatus, Doubts & Convictions returns in 2026 in a remastered edition for its 25th anniversary, confirming the group's lasting impact on the French electronic scene. Troublemakers are currently working on a new album expected in 2027. They will unveil the first tracks during an exceptional date on 3 October 2026 at 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence.
