The Dutch trio is no longer part of the youth movement, but their quest for new sounds remains insatiable.

*, to be released on Siluh Records, Jaap van der Velde, Elias Elgersma, and Erik Woudwijk have forged, over the course of ten tracks, their own version of club music, both highly inventive and endlessly enjoyable.

Rejecting all dogmatism while remaining insatiably romantic, The Homesick’s pre-pandemic career was primarily characterised by concentrating countless flashes of inspiration into their mischievous anthems.

Their debut album, *Youth Hunt*, and *The Big Exercise*, the baroque-inspired breakthrough album on Sub Pop, embodied Van der Velde, Elgersma, and Woudwijk’s thirst for discovery, exploring both the grand elements of pop and a free, unbridled experimentalism.

During this formative phase, Woudwijk’s hyper-precise drumming was a pivotal force in this perpetually swinging pendulum, which in turn gave their music its angular features.

The Homesick’s reputation as non-conformists remains intact with the exhilarating synth-pop march of “Horse Alone”. The track doesn’t answer the album’s question: what about our obsession with paradise on earth?
