It was supposed to be the most beautiful day of their lives. But, a few hours after the birth, everything changes: the child nearly dies and the mother loses consciousness. Orso is saved, yet the shockwave spreads, fracturing the couple and undoing the family trio.
To avoid sinking, the mother takes Orso into her imagination where their house becomes a pirate ship, a true life raft for their survival… Orso et moi follows the first five years of a mother-child bond, its beauty, its storms, its occasional violence, and how to form a family despite separation.
Blending the intimate with the political, Géraldine Martineau writes the story of a motherhood without an ideal image, traversed by fear, guilt, but also by an indestructible force of love.
