Since its formation in 1989 in Buffalo, New York State, Mercury Rev has made a specialty of boldly exploring the limits of artistic perception, channeling colours, sounds and visions that always seem beyond our mortal grasp.
The Guardian hailed the band as 'a rarity in independent rock: a band that has continually evolved its sound, pushing the boundaries of what rock truly means for over 25 years, drawing from jazz, funk, doo-wop, techno, folk and many other genres besides', while Rolling Stone lauded their 'majestic chaos' and the BBC praised their 'brilliant psychedelic pop, immersive indie rock [and] spectacular and captivating passages with sumptuous arrangements'.
