Marta Domingo et Claire Lamothe

Venue: Halle des Oliviers. Reservations recommended. A piano-voice duo celebrating traditional Iberian music and jazz. A singer-songwriter of Spanish origin, Marta Domingo grew up immersed in Iberian music and is passionate about Latin American rhythms.

For this intimate project, she draws from the traditions and legends of her region, Aragón, but also from the poetry of Antonio Machado and Federico García Lorca, not forgetting the Andalusian harmonies and Sephardic chants that resonate with power and emotion in her voice.

She accompanies herself with typical instruments such as castanets, spoons, and the pandero cuadrado, a square tambourine with tribal and mysterious sounds, once played by women of the Iberian Peninsula. Pianist Claire Lamothe completes the duo.

Throughout the narrative, she elegantly deploys her palette of jazz, classical, and Hispanic influences. She thus manages to sensitively illustrate these timeless stories.

The piano, in perfect symbiosis with the voice, then becomes an integral part of the narration to recreate an enchanting universe that transports us back to the vibrant and sunny landscapes that inspired these songs.
