MØL (Blackgaze): In the small world of post black metal, there is a current brimming with gems, each more audacious and brilliant than the last, from Deafheaven to Agriculture, via Alcest.

Under the gentle name of blackgaze, the style blends its swirling guitars and voices, both whispered and screamed, into the dreamlike atmosphere of shoegaze.

The unique composition of the Danes, in the form of ethereal soundscapes and sharp riffs, creates an emotional dynamic and permanent hope against a backdrop of unfathomable despair.

MØL draws its inspiration from Schopenhauer's pessimistic vision, according to which the deep nature of the world lies in a blind and purposeless aspiration; will has neither objective nor finality, and individuals' quest for satisfaction is doomed to failure.

MØL believes that context – whether it be dreams or an embrace, two situations that can be imbued with love and joy as well as destruction or violence – is essential for deepening our understanding.

The visual aesthetic, somewhat abstract and created by Daniel Owen in the style of Emil Nolde, reinforces this idea. Their new album, DREAMCRUSH, offers rays of almost unbearable hope: the possibility of continuing to dream, despite ourselves.
