Le quatuor Nautilus fait son carnaval

The Nautilus Quartet is made up of amateur musicians who have completed their conservatory training. In its wake, it has succeeded in creating an orchestra of seasoned musicians who, however, have not chosen to make music their professional activity.

The first part of the programme embraces the history of the string quartet from the genre's first major composers: Mozart and Haydn, to modernity: Ravel. But behind the classicism of Haydn and Mozart, you will find in their quartets Les Quintes and Les Dissonances elements that foreshadow modernity. Haydn, in the first movement of his quartet, makes the perfect fifth motif circulate between all voices through harmonies original for the time. Mozart goes even further by offering an inaugural Adagio based on dissonances, extremely modern harmonies that could have been written 150 years later. Ravel will bridge the gap to Saint-Saëns' Le Carnaval des animaux, a great festive piece of the French repertoire that has marked generations of musicians, presented in the version with a narrator whose text was written by Francis Blanche and marginally retouched by Emmanuel Ménard. Haydn - Quartet Opus 76 No. 2 in D minor, "Fifths" - 1st movement

Ravel - Quartet in F major - 1st movement

Saint-Saëns - Le Carnaval des animaux
