Le Barbier de Séville

In Seville, at the beginning of the 19th century, Rosine, a young orphan girl, is held captive by her guardian, Doctor Bartholo, assisted by his greedy right-hand man Basile. Promised to a forced marriage when she turns 18, she falls in love with a mysterious suitor who courts her in secret. This is none other than Count Almaviva who, aided by his former valet, the mischievous Barber Figaro, will try to free her… After Labiche’s L’Affaire de la rue de Lourcine, Les Modits company returns with a vibrant version of Le Barbier de Séville in which the characters are by turns passionate, in love, mad, neurotic, scared, and blinded. In homage to Rossini, the acting gives way to musical passages that punctuate the work. All stratagems are good to free a captive from her tyrant.
