When Lambrini Girls burst onto the scene at the start of the decade, they immediately showed their true colours: a direct discourse, perfectly assumed anger, and a clear desire to galvanise the left while annoying the right.

Phoebe Lunny and Selin Macieira-Bo gelmez then established themselves as the band that some – internet trolls, transphobes, and other professionals of -isms – would have preferred never to see emerge, but which, deep down, we all needed.

Armed with courage, humour, and a particularly exhilarating sense of chaos on stage, they seemed to have reached a peak – exasperating all the right people in the process, while their venues filled up more and more – just as the world seemed to be descending into madness.

And then the world got even worse. It is in this context that No Refunds arrives, a darker, even more direct, and above all more radical record. An album tailor-made for a time when almost nothing seems to make sense anymore.

That all these threats, each terrifying in its own way, have emerged simultaneously in barely two years since the band's debut speaks volumes about the necessity for Lunny and Macieira-Bo gelmez to set this era to music.

No Refunds thus represents a real change of scale for Lambrini Girls: their lyrics gain in confidence and maturity, while their music expands and becomes more ambitious, without losing any of its impact.
