Born in 1988, Jassim Jean Ramdani discovered rap in the mid-2000s with his childhood friends as part of Exodarap. “For me, rap remains a team sport.” With Goldman (2014), the Brussels native took a first solo turn. Concert dates followed one after another. His path then crossed with Caballero’s. The two set up a studio, “almost by mistake,” and laid the foundations for a lasting collaboration with Double Hélice (2016). “It’s the most important encounter of my professional career. We’re like two brothers.” The duo has endured, releasing over twenty joint projects. In parallel, JeanJass has built a solid solo discography, where another dimension gradually asserts itself: production. “Very early on, I understood that if the instrumental wasn’t good, even with the best rap in the world, it didn’t work for me.” Sampling and diggin gradually shaped his universe. He then lent his skills to other projects: Déjeuner en paix (2023) with Mairo, SCOPE (2024) with Keroué, Cognac & Cigarettes (2024) with Jungle Jack. This freedom also extends to his writing. With Doudoune en été (2022), JeanJass adopted a more spontaneous approach.
