Israeli jazz author, composer, and double bassist born in Jerusalem on 20 April 1970, Avishai Cohen is recognised worldwide for his compositional and instrumental talents.
Avishai Cohen moved to the United States, specifically New York, in 1992 to meet and engage with other jazz musicians and practise his art.
It was there that he met the legendary Chick Corea, who took him under his wing, helping him record and taking him on world tours to perform live with his bands: Origin and Chick Corea New Trio.
Avishai Cohen released his first album, titled "Adama", in 1998 via the Stretch Records label. The album was co-produced by his mentor Chick Corea...
Avishai Cohen's brilliant and fascinating career was launched, allowing him to work alongside greats such as Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove, and Herbie Hancock! On record and live, the artist masterfully blends jazz, classical music, world music, and Israeli-Latin music.
