This title alone sets the tone: music of today, juggling with fragments of the past, listening to echoes from different worlds – the Mediterranean East, Ottoman spirituality, American urgency… Is it jazz infused with the Orient, or Oriental music whipped by swing?

”* by Yvan Amar, Radio France Apostolos Sideris was born in 1978 in Athens, Greece, where he received his initial musical training on both flute and later double bass.

His interest in jazz led him to the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston, as well as to City College of New York, where he earned a master’s degree in jazz performance under the tutelage of renowned bassist John Patitucci.

Since then, he has performed with a wide range of artists spanning modern jazz, world music, and beyond, and after spending significant time in New York and Istanbul, he currently resides in Paris.

In this unique quintet, Apostolos surrounds himself with the talented Andrea Romani on ney and flute, Lina Belaïd on cello, percussionist Wadie Naïm, and drummer Srdjan Ivanovic.
