Overview
As part of the Monte le Son - Ô féminins festival and in keeping with its musical programme, the Hélène Berr media library welcomes Aja, the solo project of Clémence Quélennec, former member of the band La Femme.
Aja offers atmospheric music woven from ethereal voices, dreamlike textures, and epic melodies. The Breton artist's sound evokes, through her harp and synths, an enveloping journey through enchanting soundscapes that are both intimate and expansive. About Aja
After a creative interlude in Morocco dedicated to sound experimentation, she released her first EP Solitaire in 2019, soon followed by Ajasphère Vol. I, a compilation of ambient tracks published over the moons. Back in France, she accompanied Jacques on stage and also explored the harp with Le Radeau Consort. Winner of a residency at Villa Médicis in 2024, she developed an imaginary audiovisual herbarium there, before unveiling her new album Ajasphère Vol. II, presented to a sold-out Boule Noire. Her latest EP Variations sur Absolune was born spontaneously in the studio when Piezanowski played the theme of Absolune on guitar, subsequently leading to seven unique reinterpretations of this track by different musicians, including Sébastien Forrester, Variéras, and Mami Konishi. Aja's creative process stems from her encounters and experiments; currently in the midst of developing her next album, she lets herself be guided by opportunities and collaborations, much like this latest EP. Aja will release a new EP in 2026 in collaboration with Japanese artist Mami Konishi.
