Johann Sebastian Bach was often confronted with death: first the loss of his parents when he was a young boy, then the loss of about ten out of the twenty children he had with his different wives, and finally the disappearance of his wife when he was 35 years old. In his compositions, the recurring theme is that of death: death as the sleep that prepares for the afterlife, or cruel, painful death. To illustrate this human and religious fascination, the Schola de la Cathédrale, accompanied by the Cantates Spirituelles, invites you to delve into various works where death has a thousand faces.
