Overview
Rocío Márquez is one of the fundamental figures of 21st-century flamenco.
Throughout her artistic career, she has successfully combined rigorous research, creation, and interpretive excellence, making a resounding contribution to positioning flamenco at the forefront of contemporary music.
Rocío has taken her singing from flamenco peñas to major music venues, including the Teatro Real, the Palau de la Música de Barcelona, Primavera Sound, Les Trans Musicales de Rennes, and the Philharmonie de Paris.
In 2020, her album Visto en el Jueves won the Victoire for Best World Music Album in France, while her subsequent album, Tercer Cielo, received the award for Best Album of 2022 from the PAM (Association of Music Journalists) in Spain and was named Best World Music Album by Télérama and Le Monde in France.
For this new project, Himno Vertical, she will be accompanied exclusively by the classical and electric guitars of Pedro Rojas, taking us into an undifferentiated space between flamenco, classical, and experimental music.
