Overview
After a lifetime of hard work, Robert Finley has established himself as one of the leading spokesmen for contemporary blues.
Born and raised in the small town of Bernice, Louisiana, Finley spent decades playing on the street and leading the gospel group Brother Finley and the Gospel Sisters, before finally making his recording debut at the (anything but precocious) age of 62 with the album Age Don’t Mean A Thing in 2016.
This album caught the attention of Dan Auerbach, founder of the Easy Eye Sound label, giving rise to a long collaboration that includes Goin’ Platinum (2017), Sharecropper’s Son (2021), an autobiographical album, as well as the critically acclaimed Black Bayou (2023).
” An electrifying performer, known for his soulful charisma and powerful gravelly voice, Finley has since established himself as an immensely popular international live artist, with sold-out headline tours, countless festivals, concerts alongside The Black Keys, as well as a central role in Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Revue.
He has also made several notable television appearances, including the 2019 season of America’s Got Talent on NBC — where he reached the semi-finals — as well as on CBS Saturday Morning.
