Performance : Tai Shani, M.I.A.S.M.A. The 12 Choruses for Antigone

During this listening session, artist Tai Shani presents a new sound piece. A chorus of twelve singers brings to life a text written by Shani set to a musical composition by Aga Ujma. Shani revisits the story of Antigone, a figure of rebellion guided by deep moral conviction and by the love she holds for her brother Polynices, who has been denied burial. The myth of Antigone is re-examined here through a necropolitical lens, revealing current violences and systems of power that decide which lives can be protected or, conversely, exposed to death. Faced with environmental catastrophes, genocides, and inequalities produced by global capitalism, Antigone's revolutionary spirit carries a message of resistance and radical love. In M.I.A.M.S.A. The 12 Choruses for Antigone, Shani transforms this narrative into a collective meditation on violence, mourning, and solidarity, driven by the desire to do things differently.
