Ouaga sur Rhône — Jahkasa + Alif Naaba

1,000 seats, a historic challenge for Burkinabe music. For the first time in Lyon, Burkinabe artists are taking on the challenge of filling the 1,000-seat venue of CCO La Rayonne. This evening aims to promote Burkinabe culture, showcase its artists, and bring together the Burkinabe diaspora, the Lyon public, and all lovers of African cultures. For the first part, we will also organise workshops with local artists and cultural organisations. The work produced will be presented on stage on the evening of the concert. The spirit of the project is therefore to offer much more than a concert: a moment of transmission, creation, sharing, and rapprochement between Burkinabe artists, local talents, and the Lyon public.

THE BAREFOOT PRINCE FROM BURKINA FASO!

Singer, guitarist, Alif Naaba has successfully combined folk and traditional music to create a style all his own. Hailing from a princely family and a descendant of Naaba Konkis from the village of Konsegtiga, Alif Naaba weaves a mixed music sung in Mooré, French, or English. Raised by a traditional singer mother, Alif was lulled from his early childhood by her songs. His touching voice bears the traces of this intimacy between a mother and her son. The profound melodies of this standard-bearer of music in Burkina Faso revisit the musical traditions of the Mossé people in joyful ballads with warm and contemporary rhythms.
