With her Brut Ensemble, Hélène Duret transforms the sextet format and challenges our habits. Around her clarinet, four wind instruments and drums build a collective soundscape where voices constantly intertwine, shift, and recompose. The music never stands still; melody blends with rhythm, and the ensemble moves forward with a unified momentum. Inspired by her travels in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, she develops an organic writing style, imbued with shifting colours and shared energies. In the wake of Max Cilla, Ellen Arkbro, Ornette Coleman, Carla Bley, or Jimmy Giuffre, she explores a freedom of play where roles are redefined at every moment. With her collaborators, she brings forth a vibrant and unpredictable music, an experience to be lived intensely at Moulin à Jazz, naturally.
