Symphonic Concert with the Armenian National Orchestra

The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Eduard Topchan, presents an emblematic programme from the great German romantic repertoire. The evening opens with Ludwig van Beethoven's Egmont Overture. Inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's tragedy, this powerful work evokes the struggle for freedom and is distinguished by its dramatic intensity and heroic spirit. The concert continues with Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Opus 15, performed by pianist Michel Bourdoncle. This expansive score combines ardour, depth, and lyricism, showcasing a rich and demanding dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra. In the second half, the orchestra performs Ludwig van Beethoven's famous Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Opus 67. A universal work, it opens with one of the most recognisable motifs in all music history and unfolds a striking journey from shadow to light, a symbol of struggle and victory.
